Tongue Patch Surgery the Newest Extreme Method for Weight Loss
AND NOW, FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS….
Yahoo News.com just released a story about the newest extreme method for weight loss surgery, Tongue Patch Surgery. Plastic mesh is sewn into the tongue, making it extremely painful to eat solid food. The patch is left on the tongue for about one month to aid in weight loss. Patients typically lose about 18-20 pounds after the surgery, which costs $2,000 and takes about 10 minutes. This procedure is not approved by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery because of lack of sufficient data and is very controversial among the medical community.
The world of weight loss interventions is a crazy place. No wonder why people get so charged up about what someone should or shouldn’t do, when they hear about things like this. Sew material onto someone’s tongue so it hurts to eat? You couldn’t pay me to make this up! Bariatric surgery is about making an established and safe decision with accompanying interventions in diet, exercise, and lifestyle to create a healthier individual.
