What is SmartLipo?
Smartlipo is a trade name from the Cynosure company. It refers to performing liposuction with the addition of a laser. Other names for Smartlipo include laser liposuction, minimally invasive liposuction, and office based liposuction.
There are many advantages of using a laser during liposuction:
Firstly, the instruments are very thin allowing for decreased discomfort. The procedure is done in the office with the patient comfortable and awake. Secondly, the laser can produce skin tightening which helps with excess skin seen after weight loss. Lastly, the recovery is quick, with most patients returning to work in a couple days.
