KHON Living Healthy: Bariatric Surgery and Obesity

On July 14, 2015 Dr. Steven Fowler and Castle Medical Center were featured on KHON’s Living 808 morning news show Living Healthy concerning Bariatric Surgery and Obesity.

A video story on our patient Josh Hamilton was aired and then Dr. Fowler was interviewed by Trini Kaopuiki.  The six minute television segment was very informative and inspiring to anyone thinking about having bariatric surgery. Dr. Fowler’s overall message in the interview was bariatric surgery is used as a tool in conjunction with a lifestyle change that will result in improved health.

Review Us on Yelp

Review Us on Yelp

Dr. Steven Fowler with Aloha Surgery has done over 1100 bariatric cases at Castle Medical Center since 2006. He has performed the most cases in the state. In addition, the program has been designated a Center of Excellence, and now MBSAQIP by the American College of Surgeons.  The program submits its outcomes to a national database to ensure we reach safety and performance standards. This transparency in outcomes is a unique component of our program.

Over the last couple years we have had a handful of reviews on Yelp from our post-bariatric patients. We would LOVE to hear more from our bariatric patients! We are offering a Yelp special right now to all of our patients – review us on Yelp and receive a FREE BOTTLE OF VITAMIN OF YOUR CHOICE!

Oahu Support Groups

Oahu Support Groups

Aloha Surgery is proud to be a part of the Castle Medical Center team and The Hawaii Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery which offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to weight loss surgery.

Following surgery at Castle Medical Center, patients in the program receive twelve months of follow-up care that includes group and individual counseling sessions, nutrition counseling and cooking demonstrations, fitness classes designed specifically for program patients, and peer support groups that help address emotional, behavioral, and other issues. Patients can always get additional support beyond the twelve months.

The Hawaii Center for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery has recently started up their Oahu Support Groups once again. All Oahu Support Groups are held at Castle Medical Center, Wellness Auditorium. No registration is necessary to attend.
